Frequently asked questions
→ Where do you offer this service?
We offer belly binding in-person in Orange County, Los Angeles, and San Diego.
→ How soon postpartum can I start with belly binding?
You can start Belly Binding between days 3 and 10 postpartum after a vaginal or cesarean birth. After a c-section, moms are advised to just keep a watchful eye on incision area but wearing a postpartum garment is encouraged even by your provider and hospitals. We will work with you the moment you are comfortable binding!
→ How long does the service take?
Each appointment lasts about 30 - 60 minutes and includes instruction on how to wrap yourself.
→ Can I exercise while wearing my bind?
Yes, but only light activities such as walking, gentle stretching, or household chores. Avoid strenuous exercise or running.
→ How long should I wear the bind?
Traditionally, women bind daily for the first 40 days postpartum. Today, many choose 2-4 weeks. We recommend at least 14 days, or as long as it feels comfortable.
→ Does the bind hurt?
No, it’s not a corset. It should feel like a supportive hug. If it’s uncomfortable, please rewrap a little looser.
→ Can I shower with it on?
No, please remove the bind before showering.
→ How is Bengkung Belly Binding different from elastic postpartum belly bands?
Bengkung is customized to your body every time you wear it, unlike mass-produced bands. It’s handmade from 100% cotton gauze for maximum comfort.
→ Will I be taught how to bind myself at the appointment?
Yes! We will teach you, and you will receive a link with video and written instructions.
→ Can belly binding help with diastasis recti?
Belly Binding can be a supportive tool for diastasis recti. While it won’t “cure” it on its own, wearing a wrap can provide gentle compression that helps bring the abdominal muscles back toward the midline, offering stability and support as your body heals. For best results, belly binding is often paired with restorative core exercises and pelvic floor care
→ Can I upgrade this to a full postpartum support visit with the doula?
Yes, you can book a single postpartum visit with a doula of your choice. We offer a discount for booking a doula support visit or postpartum support package.
